Kat Vipers is a pianist with training at the National Conservatoire
in Athens, Greece and further studies at the Royal Academy
of Music in London (with Prof. Christopher Elton, Head of
Keyboard). She has been playing piano since the very tender
age of 4 and enjoys a versatile career as a pianist (playing
classical, both solo as well as music for 4 hands (with fellow
pianist Eralys Fernandez-Mendes), working as a songwriter
(with 3 EPs to date and funding from Arts Council England)
and is also involved with fabulous lounge jazz voice and harp
duo, The Cool Kats.
Her classical piano repertoire includes anything from Baroque
to Classical and Romantic masterworks, and a wide array of
20th Century music (Bartok, Cage, Kurtag, Gershwin, and Shostakovich).
She considers the percussive school of piano-playing her area
of specialty (Bartok, Prokofiev, Mussorgsky) - though she
absolutely adores playing Sonatas by Mozart; delights in Bach
(Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue, Preludes, Inventions, Partitas
etc) and is crazy about Schumann (Papillons, Arabesque). She
occasionally dabbles in Liszt (Piano Concerto Nr 1) and Rachmaninoff
(Etudes-Tableaux, currently reading 3rd Concerto).
Kat is available for private events such as parties, weddings,
corporate functions and other social occasions, studio and
live sessions, vocal accompaniment for exams and recitals
and private tuition. She has experience with a vast range
of genres and styles and can tailor her performances to suit
your project/brief.
Kat is a member of the Musicians' Union and CRB checked.
She also performs a selection of works for 4 hands with Eralys
Fernandez Mendez
"Amazing"
(Erdem, fashion designer @ London Fashion Week 08 - www.erdem.co.uk)
"Erdem has confirmed his place as a creative force
to be reckoned with...Equally enchanting was the music provided
by 2 live pianists seated at grand pianos in the centre of
the catwalk space"
(Elle magazine Sep 08, Erdem's fashion show at London Fashion
Week 2008)
Technical:
You must provide a piano (upright or grand) in good condition
and relatively recently tuned. There’s no need for a PA
system, microphones, amps etc. The piano is a totally acoustic
instrument and will sound fantastic even in a big hall, subject
to the acoustics of the venue and the number of your guests.
Please note Kat performs with
the music (parts) and requires a piano stand in working order.
